Kitesurfing at Ploce

~5 min read

Ploce and the surrounding beaches are becoming an increasingly popular kitesurfing destination on the Croatian Adriatic. Stable thermal winds during the summer months, shallow lagoons, and long sandy beaches create ideal conditions for both beginners and experienced kiters. A distance of just 20 minutes’ drive from Metkovic makes this location perfectly accessible for guests who want to combine a relaxing holiday with adrenaline.

Local kitesurfing schools offer courses for all levels — from complete beginners to advanced techniques such as freestyle. Equipment can be rented on the beach, and instructors are certified and speak multiple languages. Courses in the shallow lagoon are particularly popular, where conditions are safe and controlled, perfect for first steps on the board. The kitesurfing season runs from May to October, with the strongest winds in July and August.

Beyond kitesurfing, the Ploce area also offers windsurfing, kayaking, and SUP. After an active day on the water, many kiters enjoy visiting fish restaurants in Ploce and surrounding villages, where the fresh catch of the day and cold beers make a perfect end to an adventurous day.
