Hotel Narona is named after the famous ancient Roman city whose remains are found in the nearby village of Vid. Located on the main square of Metković, the hotel combines modern comfort with the spirit of this region's rich history. Our restaurant offers authentic Neretva Valley cuisine — from fresh eels and frogs to traditional Dalmatian dishes prepared with local ingredients.
All rooms open onto a paved courtyard with a lake view — a quiet spot for a morning coffee before the town wakes up. The hotel terrace is the perfect spot for a morning coffee overlooking the lively town square, or for an evening of relaxation with a glass of local wine. Hotel Narona is especially popular with guests who want to experience the true local way of life — from visiting the fish market to participating in traditional eel hunting. The restaurant is part of the hotel — no driving needed for dinner. Nearby you'll find King Tomislav Square, the Neretva riverside promenade and the historic Lučki bridge, the Narona Museum in Vid (5-minute drive), and the entrance to the Neretva Delta (10-minute drive).

Over 130 years of tradition
Built in 1890 under the name Hotel Zagreb, the hotel has been at the heart of the city's life from the very beginning. At the time, Metković was a key trading hub on the border of the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires, and its port one of the most important on the Adriatic for trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The hotel opens under the name Hotel Zagreb — one of the oldest and most modern hotels on the eastern Adriatic coast of the time.
1930s
The hotel becomes one of Metković's cultural centres — a cinema hall operates within the building during this decade.
Today
After World War II the hotel takes its current name — Hotel Narona, after the nearby ancient Roman city whose ruins lie in the village of Vid. Privately owned, it remains the central landmark on King Tomislav Square.

Hotel Narona offers a free airport transfer on request. Hotel MB arranges paid transfers from Dubrovnik, Split, and Mostar airports with prior reservation. The closest airport is Mostar (37 km). Contact us for details.
